Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Awards $181,000 to Safeguard Compassionate End-of-Life Care at East End Hospice

WESTHAMPTON BEACH, NY — East End Hospice is among nearly 400 New York State-based nonprofits and one of only three Eastern Long Island organizations to receive funding from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. The Foundation awarded $181,000 to help offset revenue losses resulting from Medicare reimbursement reductions at its Kanas Center for Hospice Care inpatient facility.

The Kanas Center for Hospice Care is the only dedicated inpatient hospice facility in the region. The state-of-the-art facility provides highly specialized, individualized medical care for patients whose needs cannot be met at home. Like EEH’s home hospice services, care at the Kanas Center is patient-centered and rooted in dignity, compassion, and respect. The facility accepts all eligible patients.

“In the final days of life, comfort, peace, and human connection matter most,” said Mary Crosby, President and CEO of East End Hospice. “The Mother Cabrini Health Foundation’s support ensures that patients at the Kanas Center can experience those moments surrounded by expert, compassionate care — without risk of being discharged or forced to pay for care.”

“Our grantee partners are navigating an incredibly challenging landscape, yet their commitment to serving their communities continues to deepen,” said Msgr. Gregory Mustaciuolo, Chief Executive Officer of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. “These grants demonstrate our resolve to stand with them by addressing urgent needs today, while strengthening the systems and workforce that will support New Yorkers’ health for years to come.”

“Our work is sustained by the trust placed in us by our community,” Crosby added. “We thank the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation for its commitment to ensuring hospice care remains available to those who need it most.”
