East End Hospice (EEH) has received a $100,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation whose grantmaking focuses on community health needs and addressing health disparities across New York State. Funding will promote access to East End Hospice’s Kanas Center for Hospice Care and underwrite EEH’s commitment to guaranteeing care for all patients at no cost.
The Kanas Center for Hospice Care is Eastern Long Island’s only dedicated hospice facility. The state-of-the-art facility is a vital community resource that provides highly specialized, individualized medical care that cannot be offered at home.
“Thanks to the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, EEH Kanas Center patients will always remain safe, peaceful, and well-cared for in their final days,” stated East End Hospice President & CEO Mary Crosby. “At a time when providers nationwide are closing hospice facilities because of the high cost of operations, funding from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation supports our mission of offering terminally ill patients high-quality care regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.”
“Our grantees are on the front lines each and every day helping improve health outcomes for underserved New Yorkers. Today’s grant announcement will provide over 500 nonprofits with the resources to bolster innovative and life-changing programs across New York. From prioritizing mental health to helping newly arrived immigrants navigate complex legal systems, grantees will continue to impact every corner of New York and help communities thrive,” said Alfred F. Kelly, Jr., Executive Chairman of Visa and Chair of the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation Board.
“We could not provide our urgently needed services without the trust and investment of our community,” added Crosby. “We are honored to be among the impressive recipients of Mother Cabrini Health Foundation’s most recent awards.”
