East End Hospice (EEH) has been awarded a $160,000 grant from the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation. These funds will help offset the loss of service revenue resulting from cuts to Medicare reimbursement for inpatient hospice care at East End Hospice’s Kanas Center for Hospice Care.
The Kanas Center for Hospice Care is the only dedicated hospice facility in the region. The state-of-the-art facility is a vital community resource that provides highly specialized, individualized medical care that cannot be offered at home. Like home hospice, care is patient-centered and promotes dignity and respect. The Kanas Center accepts all eligible patients regardless of where they live.
“Thanks to the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation, patients at the East End Hospice Kanas Center for Hospice Care will continue to experience safety, peace, and compassionate care during their final days,” stated Mary Crosby, President and CEO of East End Hospice. “This partnership will have a meaningful and lasting impact on our community, enabling us to fulfill our mission of providing care to everyone in need, regardless of their financial circumstances or abilities.”
We are deeply honored by the wide-ranging impact of our work and by the dedication of our grantees across New York State. We’re inspired by the compassionate legacy of Mother Frances Cabrini, as this year marks a significant milestone in our grantmaking as we surpassed $1 billion in grants since our founding. This moment fuels our commitment as a Foundation to look toward the future, where we will continue making bold investments in a healthier, more equitable future for all, said Msgr. Gregory Mustaciuolo, Chief Executive Officer of the Mother Cabrini Foundation.
“We’re honored to be among the Mother Cabrini Health Foundation’s 2024-2025 grant recipients. The Foundation centers its work around a core belief in the dignity of all people, a guiding force that mirrors our efforts at EEH to improve lives through expert care, comfort, and compassion for all,” Crosby remarked.
